from NC WANTED staff based on Raleigh Police Reports

WAKE COUNTY — You did it again! Your tips to the NC WANTED Hotline led to the direct capture of another wanted fugitive.

Today, the Raleigh Police Department confirmed that a tip through the NC WANTED Hotline guided the Raleigh Police Fugitive Squad to the exact location of David Lamont Jones, a suspect in several felony crimes in the Charlotte area.

Late Tuesday, officers surrounded Jones at the Days Inn on 3901 South Wilmington Street in Raleigh, and arrested him without incident, according to Raleigh Police officials.

NC WANTED has been told that Charlotte Police authorities will travel to Raleigh this week to pick up Lamont, then drive him back to Charlotte to face prosecution.

This arrest becomes the second direct capture in less than a week and marks NC WANTED's 25th capture overall, since the program began in April 2007.

Raleigh Police officials wish to thank callers for providing tips to the NC WANTED Hotline (1.866.43.WANTED).

Every tip is important and many cases offer a reward for information leading to an arrest.
