LEE COUNTY — LEE COUNTY: Robert Trent Burkey wins the prize for the Target Ten fugitive with the most education. Burkey was once a professor, and became a chairman of psychology at Emory and Henry College in Virginia. His intelligence and versatility enabled him to later become a senior chemist in the private sector.
But this 'man of higher education' is charged with low and despicable acts against children. Burkey lured a woman online, then molested her two young daughters. Later, he was found to have a stash of child pornography stored on his computer. Even though he was charged with the crimes in Fort Worth, Texas, he escaped prosecution by fleeing the area. He remains at large and has strong ties to areas around Sanford and Sevin Devils, NC.
