WAKE COUNTY — Your tips helped Raleigh Police capture another NC WANTED Target Twenty fugitive!

Erick Robles Mendoza was arrested on Friday afternoon, June 26, 2009, "after a foot pursuit, and took place in a wooded area off S. Wilmington Street," Raleigh Police spokesperson Jim Sughrue stated in a brief dispatch.

Raleigh Police officials recently confirmed to NC WANTED that a "credible tip"  had come through the NC WANTED Hotline (1.866.43.WANTED).

On June 14th, 2008, the Raleigh Police Department reported that officers had responded to a shooting call in the 500 block of Peyton Street, shortly after 2 a.m. that day. 

The Raleigh Police report stated that "officers located a victim, Miguel Najara Martinez (DOB 8/28/71)."

The report also noted that "Martinez was transported to WakeMed, where he subsequently died.'

Sughrue noted that investigators had obtained a warrant charging Erick Robles Mendoza (DOB 6/13/80) with murder in connection with the death of Miguel Najara Martinez.

Mendoza had been reported last seen operating a brown 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe bearing N.C. Blue Ridge Parkway tag X757.

Sughrue said the vehicle had been located in Raleigh, but Mendoza has remained at large for nearly a year.

The arrest of Erick Robles Mendoza marks the 24th capture of NC WANTED's most wanted fugitives.

From an earlier NC WANTED report

On Saturday, June 14, 2008 around 2 a.m., Raleigh police responded to a call off Peyton Street. That’s where they found 37-year-old Miguel Najara Martinez.

The victim was taken to WakeMed hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say 28-year-old Erick Robles Mendoza is responsible for Martinez’s death.

Mendoza is a Hispanic male who stands at 5”6’ and weighs about 160 pounds. He was last seen driving a brown 2000 Chevy Tahoe with North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway tags X757. Authorities say the car has plastic covering the passenger side door.
