A banner day for law enforcement. On Thursday, the FBI confirmed that Cesar Laurean was arrested in Mexico.
If you follow NC WANTED, you know that we’ve spent a good deal of time on this case. The brutality of it cuts to the core of any sensible human being.
Though we don’t know what ultimately led to his arrest, don’t be surprised if some measure of human intelligence played a part. It was an international collaborative effort that landed one of the most wanted men in world without incident. That’s how it should be.
And, while Laurean is now in custody, our coverage of the arrest and extradition will continue. This is a process that could take some time. Not to mention the trial will generate worldwide attention.
The saga is far from over, but this is a major hurdle we’ve just crossed. Let’s hope it gives the Lauterbach family some sense of justice.
