NEW HANOVER COUNTY — NEW HANOVER COUNTY: Wilmington police uncovered two female skeletons last week in a wooded area off Carolina Beach Road.

On May 2, police took cadaver dogs to the area where the skeletons were found. Police believe both skeletons belonged to white females, but they have not released any additional descriptions. Both cadavers have been sent to a lab for DNA testing to confirm the women's identities.

Police have not said whether foul play is suspected in the deaths. They are waiting for lab results to return, which could take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.
