NASH COUNTY — NASH COUNTY: On Christmas Eve of 2003, Travis Lamont Lynch disappeared without a trace.
At age 21, Lynch was last seen by his girlfriend. That Christmas Eve, the two went to a friend’s house where, according to investigators, Lynch had quite a bit to drink. After trying to sober up at his girlfriend’s house in Middlesex, Travis left around 1 a.m. Investigators told NC WANTED he was headed home to Wilson, but never arrived.
More than four years later, there has been no trace of Lynch or the vehicle he was driving.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Lynch had a temper problem.
“From interviews, he seemed to be kind of hot-tempered," said Detective Pat Joyner of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office. “Especially with his girlfriend. There’s several interviews that said that he had struck his girlfriend a few times in the past.”
Though he is not sure how he disappeared, Detective Joyner believes that Lynch is no longer alive. He has a few theories about what may have happened to Lynch.
Because of his temper, Lynch may have had a previous altercation that resulted in his death. Perhaps someone was seeking revenge. Detective Joyner also believes Lynch may have been involved with drugs and the death could have been the result of a drug deal gone bad.
Travis was last seen wearing blue jeans and a light brown t-shirt. He is a black male, 5’4” and 180 pounds. He has a tattoo of a “T” on his right arm. Travis drove a white, 1992 Pontiac Grand Am with the license plate RZS 4814.
