Body found on Eno River in Durham

A hiker in the Eno Park discovered the body of Judge Thomas Johnson, 40, near the Guess Road Bridge along the Laurel Bluffs Trail Monday.

DURHAM, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a man found Monday near the Eno River in Durham.

A hiker in the Eno River State Park discovered the body of Judge Thomas Johnson, 40, near the Guess Road Bridge along the Laurel Bluffs Trail Monday.

Johnson's body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy. Neither police nor the SBI have provided any further details about the case.

The discovery of Johnson's body comes after two shooting deaths in Durham on Sunday.

Henry Jamel May, 30, of Old Well Street died following a shooting at Gary and Quincy Streets Sunday evening. Ernesto Allen, 27, of Gray Avenue died following a shooting on Dowd Street.

Police urge anyone with information about either of the shootings to call Durham Crime Stoppers at 683-1200 or the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440.
