Mother of Kelly Morris: 'I Know'

A Mother’s Fear

The mother of Kelly Morris contacted NC WANTED and said she fears for the safety of her granddaughter, Haley Morris, 5, who is living with Scott Morris in Creedmoor.

"I just don't want Haley to get caught in the crossfire," Wanda Hollis said. Haley is the biological daughter of Kelly and Scott Morris.

Search warrants confirm that Scott Morris is being investigated for the disappearance of his wife, Kelly Morris.

Wanda Hollis told NC WANTED that she has had little contact with Haley since Kelly disappeared, but she said she is seeking visitation rights.

Hollis said her concerns are based on what Kelly and her daughters confided to her about problems at home. Kelly Morris has a second daughter from a previous relationship who is now in the custody of the girl’s biological father in Wake County.

Hollis stopped short of revealing everything. “I can’t tell really my whole story right now because of Haley. Those girls [Kelly’s two daughters] told me some very frightening things. And Kelly did too.”

“I know what happened. I can not tell you where Kelly is. I know she’s not alive,” Hollis said.

A Mother’s Intuition

Hollis said after she arrived at the scene of the house fire on September 4th, she started recalling what Kelly and her daughters had told her.

“Soon as I left Hillsborough and got to Stem and just got up to [Kelly’s] house and was watching everybody and even Pat [Currin]. I looked at him and Juanita [Kelly’s stepmother], and I just broke down in the middle of the road,” Hollis said.

Hollis said she became convinced Kelly had been murdered. “When the house was on fire, I knew what happened. Mothers just always know,” she said.

A Mother’s Reality

Until the case breaks or a body is found, Kelly Morris will likely remain classified as a missing person.

The reality for Wanda Hollis is that she believes her daughter is dead and it is time to confront the person responsible. “I would just, would love to just go face to face with him now and say, ‘You know, was it worth it? Was it really worth it?’”

Kelly Morris was last seen by her husband, Scott Morris, on September 3rd, 2008. The next morning, Kelly never reported for work. Her house was discovered burning that afternoon, and the fire was ruled an arson. NC SBI search warrants contradict various claims made by Scott Morris about his activities on September 3rd and 4th.
