Dexter Lavern Hooks and Demario Lashaun Boyd are charged with kidnapping, extortion and assault. According to investigators, Hooks, 44, and Boyd, 24, are charged in two cases that were reported in early November. Two other men -- Justin Brooks Sharpe and Adrian Whoie -- have already been arrested and charged for these incidents.
Brandon Duvalle Malone, 19, allegedly shot a man in the leg during an attempted robbery on Pilot Street on October 31. The victim told police that Malone approached him about 1 a.m. with a handgun. An altercation ensued and the victim was shot. Malone is wanted on aggravated assault and attempted armed robbery charges.
Daemeon Coshon Smith allegedly assaulted a man on Hickory Street Tuesday morning. When officers arrived at the scene, the 46-year-old victim was lying in the road. He suffered head injuries from being repeatedly beaten in the head with a stick. Smith, 32, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Antwoine Yates, 31, is wanted on aggravated assault charges. According to investigators, he hit a man in the face with a brick during an argument on South Roxboro Street.
