Duke's Jeremy Roach declaring for NBA Draft, entering transfer portal
The guard played four seasons at Duke -- two under former coach Mike Krzyzewski and two under Jon Scheyer.
Posted — UpdatedRoach said he would declare for the NBA Draft, while maintaining his college eligibility and entering the transfer portal.
"It was an incredible 4 years," Roach wrote.
Duke is also losing forward Mark Mitchell to the transfer portal as well as potential first-round picks Kyle Filipowski and Jared McCain to the NBA.
Duke is bringing a highly touted recruiting class headlined by Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach.
Roach helped the Blue Devils reach the 2022 Final Four in Krzyzewski's final season in Durham. He played two seasons under new coach Jon Scheyer, helping Duke reach the Elite Eight this season before losing to NC State.
In 130 career games, Roach averaged 11.3 points and 3.1 assists per game. Roach set career highs in scoring (14.0 points) and assists (3.3) in 2023-24.
Roach could be an intriguing target in the transfer portal with teams valuing experience, particularly among backcourt players. Roach has one year of eligibility remaining because the 2020 postseason was canceled due to COVID, and the NCAA granted everyone impacted an extra season of eligibility.
