Pro-Palestinian protesters disperse after blocking Franklin Street, marching through UNC campus
The protest comes days after intense protests broke out on the university's Y Campus. Several pro-Palestinian protesters removed the flag at Polk Place and replaced it with a Palestinian Flag on Tuesday, April 30.
Posted — UpdatedPro-Palestinian protesters gathered Sunday on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
More than 400 protesters started marching down Franklin Street around 3:45 p.m. and marched to the quad. The march was organized by Students for Justice in Palestine.
The group disbanded around 5:15 p.m. after reaching the steps of the South Building.
SJP said the group was suspended from the campus in the wake of Tuesday's protest.
The Chapel Hill Police Department is directing traffic away from Franklin Street as the march continues.
