Robeson Co. Sheriff: Man who shot deputies released from hospital, taken into custody

According to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Shawn Tobin Locklear Jr. is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon after the Sheriff's Office said he shot two deputies while they were serving an outstanding arrest warrant.

The man accused of shooting Robeson County deputies was released from the hospital Monday.

According to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Shawn Tobin Locklear left the hospital. Locklear is in custody with the Department of Adult Corrections at Central Prison.

Locklear Jr. is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon after the Sheriff’s Office said he shot two deputies while they were serving an outstanding arrest warrant. One of the deputies was also hit by the patrol car Locklear stole.
Deputies Jonathan Walters, 37, and Kaelin Locklear, 23, are recovering at home from their injuries.

Locklear Jr. was taken to the hospital after deputies shot him multiple times during the exchange.

Locklear Jr. has his first court appearance on Wednesday, November 22.
