A Sanford man won $100,000 playing the Powerball lottery on Saturday.

James Blalock bought a $3 Power Play ticket from the Carbonton Road Short Stop. Blalock matched four of the five possible white balls, along with the red Power to win $50,000.

His prized doubled after the 2x multiplier hit.

Blalock claimed his prize on Monday at lottery headquarters. After required federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $71,251.

Monday’s Powerball offers a $85 million jackpot, or $36.9 million cash.

Players can buy Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
