A deadly crash involving two vehicles Thursday night shut down US 401 South in Franklin County for several hours.

The Louisburg Fire Chief, Randy Lanham, confirmed one person died in the accident.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and both northbound and southbound lanes have reopened.
