FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County investigators arrested one person Tuesday after finding a 64-year-old woman slain in her home when they answered a call she made to 911.

Deputies responding to the call from Paulette Locklear found her dead in her home at 1213 Wilmington Highway on Tuesday afternoon.

No information about the cause of death or a motive for the slaying was released Tuesday afternoon.

The name of the person arrested in the case also wasn't released.

Family members told WRAL News that Locklear had hired a homeless man to help out with odd jobs around the house and that he was the person police arrested.

They said they didn't find anything missing in the house, so they don't know whether she was robbed. They said there was a lot of blood inside the house.

The case remains under investigation, authorities said.
