HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators trying to solve the 1998 kidnapping and killing of 5-year-old Brittany Locklear hope DNA is the break they need.

They plan to test samples taken from Keith Londeree, a former civilian firefighter at Fort Bragg.

After Londerlee's arrest on charges of robbing a bank in Carthage last year, detectives said they found pictures of Locklear in his locker.

Investigators stopped short of calling Londeree a suspect.

The child was kidnapped from her bus stop, raped and killed. Investigators found Locklear's body in a drainage ditch.
